Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarship for his family and service to the community. The first line of his family was that his father was the youngest of the nine children raised in Eufala through Lucious Selmon. Second football he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. The three years he was the team's starter, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third time in 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth time of service was ten-hours per week of volunteer time in college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Also, he began an entrepreneurial career. By 1988 he had become an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's top 10 young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he was a part of his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named his in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
