Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the sole celebrity who crossed from country into the mainstream and become an international icon of pop culture. Swift is shedding her roots in the country as if it were a second-skin, revealing herself to be one of the best pop singers and songwriters of her time. Swift is able to harness the current zeitgeist and turn it into her own. This was evident from her first songs, especially in her neo tribute of Tim McGraw. On her second release Fearless (2008), Swift showed a songwriter getting to understand her. The album was hugely successful not just in America with six singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But it also smashed records across the globe. Speak Now delivered almost two years later and consolidated this success and moved Swift to the heights of stardom. In the following three years, her popularity increased through the years -the albums - Red (2012), Reputation (2014), and 1989 (2014-2015) during which time Swift entered the realm of pop where her talents were already established. Her name was always on top of the charts until she reverted to her style with her sibling albums folklore & Evermore in 2020.
