Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a poor family of twelve children who would grow up as a unit eventually, realized very young how to overcome of her difficulties thanks to her incredibly vivid imagination. In the beginning, before she learned to write and read and compose, she wrote her own tunes. Within 8 years she was playing her first guitar. As a teenager she started singing on the local radio station in Knoxville, Tennessee. She released her debut album during the same year with Gold Band Records, a small, independent label. As a student in high school, she was able to make her mark locally but dreamed about a larger stage. Following her graduation in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated in the years prior to this. Parton took the job in the year 1966. She joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. Parton left the show but in 1974, because her solo albums, like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene over-sold the collaborations. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and the song reached Number. The first time it made it to No. 1 was 1974.
